He is Ours!

2 days ago, our caseworker called with the good news. We have received our letter from MOWA (Ministry of Women's Affairs) in Ethiopia. This was the LAST piece of paper needed in order for us to OFFICIALLY pass court over there. Phew! It took a little over 3 weeks from our court date for this letter to come which wasn't as bad as we thought. So what does this mean?

It means we officially have a son. (Picture me running down the stairs and jumping up and down trying to get Adam's attention while he was on the phone and having to write on a whiteboard "MOWA Letter: CHECK!) It means he will now be given a new birth certificate with our last name on it. It means he'll get a passport and visa to come home. It means A LOT!

So the next question everyone has is "When do you bring him home?"
The easy answer is, we don't know. Average time lines would put it around sometime end of Sept to Mid November we could be traveling back. But I really just throw time lines out the window and wait for a phone call from our wonderful caseworker! The more detailed answer goes something like this:

-We wait for MANY more documents to be received and processed in Ethiopia. All these documents have to be in order to then be submitted by our agency to the U.S. Embassy in Addis. Once all those documents are submitted, we WAIT again for them to go over them, maybe request more documents (hope not), approve them, and then give us a date to come back and do his visa interview. It will take a few weeks to get all the documents ready and then submitted.

We have 2 more big steps before we bring him home:

Step 1) Embassy Submission/Acceptance/Approval. (Translates to: About 100 steps in between to complete this and imagine our agency staff running around chasing paper on our behalf-Love them! They work their butts off for adoptive families and I can't imagine all stuff they go through for us..Not an easy job!)

Step 2) Receive Travel Clearance and GO!
(Translates to: FREAK OUT, buy airline tickets, pack, breathe, pack more and get on a plane!)

In the meantime I have officially started to "nest" as much as I can and try to get things in order for the newest member of our family! Woooohooooo!
